About Us

Tofu Concern are the 2023 Central States District Quartet Champs, 2023 2nd Place BHS Next Generation Varsity Medalists, and the 2023 CSD Youth Quartet Champions! We are based out of St. Charles and St. Louis, Missouri and formed in May of 2021. We represent the Central States District (CSD) as well as the St. Charles Chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS).

Meet Us

Donell Torres, Tenor of Tofu Concern

Donell Torres

Donell Torres, 23, is the tenor of Tofu Concern. He has been singing since before he can remember but began singing barbershop in high school under the direction of the two time, SAI Queen of Harmony, Debbie Cleveland. Donell spent most of his life in Tampa, Florida singing with the Heralds of Harmony under Tony De Rosa where he was the bass and baritone section leader. In 2021, he moved to Alexandria, VA where he joined the Alexandria Harmonizers. Six months later, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri where he found the love his life, Mollie, and asked her to marry him. Donell sings tenor in the Ambassadors of Harmony and is a Baritone Section Leader for The Recruits. He also serves as the Vice President of Music and Performance at the chapter level.
Austin Stephens, Lead of Tofu Concern

Austin Stephens

Austin Stephens, 24, is the lead of Tofu Concern. Austin has been singing barbershop since high school when his director at the time Aaron Zart introduced it to his choirs. Austin has been singing in quartets since then. Once he graduated high school he joined The Ambassadors of Harmony and is currently a baritone section leader for The Recruits Chorus. He has sung in competing quartets such as Sound Factory and Double Take. In his spare time, Austin enjoys attempting to master chess, as well as hanging out with his girlfriend and their two dogs.

Sam Rinkenbaugh, Tenor of Tofu Concern

Sam Rinkenbaugh

Sam Rinkenbaugh, 23, is the bass of Tofu Concern. He's been singing barbershop since he was a freshman in high school, where he was first introduced to the style. He started singing in quartets in high school and eventually joined the Wichita, KS chapter with SmorgasChorus. Sam sang in the SmorgasChords from Butler Community College and most recently Switch it Up. Sam has experience helping with youth a cappella camps like Acappellooza Summer and regularly coaches the quartets at Butler Community College. Sam currently sings bass in the Ambassadors of Harmony and is a Bass Section leader in The Recruits Chorus.
Marshall Crowl, Bass of Tofu Concern

Marshall Crowl

Marshall Crowl, 23, is the baritone of Tofu Concern. He is a 3rd generation barbershopper and has been singing barbershop for over a decade. He got his start in his home town of Tulsa, Oklahoma with the founding chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, The Tulsa Founders Chorus. Marshall has sung in quartets since age 14, including internationally recognized quartets such as City Limits and Harmonium. He has experience with leading youth camps, directing, being on music teams for his choruses, having administrative responsibilities at the district level, and creating learning tracks.
